Minor molested by teacher attempts suicide in Hazaribag

A 14-year-old minor girl studying in a government school in Daru block was molested by assistant teacher Mukesh Kumar. Hurt by this act, the student attempted to end her life by ingesting poison.

The minor girl was treated at Sheikh Bihari Medical College, Hazaribagh where her condition is out of danger.

On Monday, when the girl's condition improved, her mother filed a criminal complaint at the police station in Dar.

FIR No. 56/23 is filed under Sections 376, 306 and POSCO Act.

The victim's mother stated in her statement that she is a student of IX. classes. She said her daughter went to the house of the accused to fill the examination form. The teacher took him to the room under the pretext of filling out a form and harassed her.

The parents and other relatives of the student, who were injured in the incident, demanded action against the accused teacher. Daru Police Station Superintendent Amit Kumar said the accused would be arrested soon.
